1990 - 1996 Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy
Richmond has been with Southeast Texas Medical Associates, since its inception in August of 1995. He began working part time while attending Lamar University, where he studied political science and philosophy.

After graduation, he was offered a full time position in the business office, and rapidly progressed through the ranks of the practice to become the director of the central business office, managing the collections of over $5,000,000 annually. Since then, Richmond has been an integral part of the executive management at SETMA.

In October of 1997, the partners of SETMA attended an MGMA meeting where they determined that the practice needed to begin looking to the future of medicine. This future they believed was in computerized patient records. Upon returning from this meeting, they charged Richmond with researching this industry and determining who the best vendors were. After spending several months researching the industry, Mr. Holly settled on two vendors that would provide our practice with a management system (appointments, claims filing, and reporting) and computerized medical records.

The implementation of these two products was developed, coordinated, and carried out under Richmond's direction. This entailed designing and building from scratch, a network, purchasing all of the hardware to run these products and executing an implementation strategy for NextGen EMR and NextGen EPM. During the implementation of these systems, Mr. Holly was also charged with choosing a lab information system to store and report the information generated by SETMA's Medicare certified reference laboratory. Once these three systems were fully implemented Mr. Holly coordinated the interfaces between the three.

Today, Mr. Holly is in charge of a staff of 4 people that support 320 employees, 325 workstations, 225 phones, 54 software packages, 40 servers, 40 providers that span 5 Locations along with all of the switches, printers, routers, circuits, etc. that goes with it.

Mr. Holly and his staff recognize that accessible, pertinent, timely data and information are the most important elements of 21st Century technology-driven healthcare. SETMA's IT department operates under that premise.

The IT Department has been an integral part of SETMA's being recognized by Microsoft as Clinic of the Year 2003, as well as numerous other awards and citations for excellence. SETMA was also chosen by the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation as one of 50 exemplary practices in America. SETMA's disease management tools supported by IT and developed with IT support have placed SETMA at the forefront of progressive healthcare in the United States.
