James L. Holly, MD, CEO and Managing Partner of SETMA has been named to the following National Committees:
AMA Board of Trustees, Electronic Health Record (EHR) Work Group -- This six-member work group has been charged
with identifying and/or clarifying the role the AMA should play in electronic health records and to coordinate
input to the AMA Board of Trustees on these issues.
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service's (CMS) Electronic Performance Measures Meeting -- Out of this meeting,
Dr. Holly has been invited to participate on the Advisory Panel for the CMS and AMA jointly sponsored Electronic
Performance Measurement Specifications Project (EPMSP).
U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation's
Work Group on the development of the National Health Information Infrastructure (NHII) -- This group was charged
with advising Dr. William A Yasnoff, Senior Advisor, National Health Information Infrastructure, on how to
proceed in the development of the NHII. This group has begun a national dialogue on the direct, content and
purposes of the NHII.
National Advisory Committee of the NextGen Corporation -- NextGen is a producer of high quality, state of the
art, health care information technology tools. The national advisory committee gives input to the leadership
of NextGen on directions and goals.
In addition, Dr. Holly has been asked to address a number of national conferences on medical informatics,
the incorporation of performance measures into electronic medical records and the advancing of electronic
patient management for the improving of health care in America. In November, 2003, Dr. Holly will address
the 20th International Conference of The International Society for Quality in Health Care on these subjects.
Through these opportunities, the daily efforts of Southeast Texas Medical Associates' partners, health care
providers, management, employees and associates are having an influence on the direction of health care in America.
These opportunities provide a stimulus for SETMA to continually improve its services to those who entrust their care
to SETMA providers. All SETMA participants and patients can be justly proud of the results of their efforts as is
evidence by the attention those efforts are receiving.
