Through both www.setma.com which is SETMA’s practice website and www.NextMD.com which is a SETMA specific web portal, SETMA provides secure e-mail access for our patients.  One or the other sties allows the patient to request:

• Person consultations about any medical problem.
• Appointments
• Referrals
• Medication refills
• Laboratory results – the web portal allows certain labs to be displayed for the patient to retrieve themselves.

The web portal also allows the patient to:

• Fill out certain forms before their office visit such as the one below
• Obtain information from their chart such as allergies, medication lists, past medical history, etc.
• Participate in self directed education about diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia

Below is a template which illustrations the capability patients have to communicate structured data to their provider prior to a scheduled visit. Once accepted by the provider in review, this data will be automatically placed in the structured fields in the patient’s current visit.

NextMD Patient Portal

NextMD is an advanced patient-provider portal that promotes an interactive continuum of care between the patient and the practice, facilitating effective electronic communication and clinical data exchange.



While offering standard features such as appointment requests, prescription renewals, and transmission of documents and forms, NextMD reaches far beyond other portals with:

• The ability for patient information, including referrals, to be imported directly into NextGen EHR, replacing key stroking by the front desk.

With NextMD, group practices can leverage clinical staff, such as nurses and medical assistants, to handle patient requests, while sending to providers only the issues requiring their attention. Providers will receive tasks in an assignment queue, with the patient chart only one click away.
Every patient interaction conducted through NextMD can be integrated with physician workflow tools and easily imported into NextGen EHR, with controls to help close the loop and respond to the patient.
In addition, a message can be sent to a group of patients identified for a medication recall, for a new service to help a chronic condition, or those due for tests or follow-up visits through NextMD messages are automatically addressed, encrypted for security, and sent to the targeted patients.
